Tribute to the Shaggs

Annoyingly I will be out of town next Friday when the Bell House in Brooklyn will be having a Tribute to the Shaggs. At least I got to see the play about them.

If this means anything to you, you might want to attend and tell me how it went.

Stickfly

Attention NYC area residents:

I saw the play Stickfly this evening. It's not gotten a lot of press, and what it has gotten is probably because Alicia Keyes is involved in the production, which does a huge disservice to the play.

The script is great and the cast is excellent. I recommend it highly.

You should definitely check it out.

Central Pennsylvania
I'm seriously considering attending the Pittsburgh Perl Workshop, and I'm thinking of driving down leisurely and breaking it up into to driving segments.

The question is, where is a good place to stop between New York and Pittsburgh?

I could, of course, stay overnight in Philadelphia, but it would be nice to see someplace new, and also to get a bit further along my journey the first day.

So, anyone know of anywhere, say an hour or so past Philadelphia that would be good to stop overnight?

Powell's
I could not, of course, go to Portland (OR) and not go to Powell's Books.

Purchased on this trip:

Raymond M. Smullyan - Satan, Cantor & Infinity
Kim Newman - Bloody Red Baron
Clifford Pickover - The Möbius Strip
Rick Meyrowitz - Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead
Laurent Bouzereau - The Cutting Room Floor
Dave Barry - I'll Mature When I'm Dead
Michael Lang - The Road To Woodstock
Erika Lust - Good Porn: A Woman's Guide
David Aaronovitch - Voodoo Histories
Will Eisner & Frank Miller - Eisner/Miller
Chuck Barris - Game Show King
Michael Shermer - Why People Believe Weird Things
Jay Cowan - Hunter S. Thompson

So, not a bad haul. That plus some tech books from OSCON should keep me busy for a while. Not that I don't have enough books already, of course...

Ribbons for Gallifrey
A friend of mine asked me about getting ribbons made for Gallifrey. I know someone on my friends list must have done this. Any suggestions?

It's that time again.
It's my birthday next tuesday. My 45th. I figure I should do something. I don't, however, know what that should be.

Cleaning up
Straightening up my apartment is becoming depressing. There's way too much to do. It feels like it will never get finished.

Heading out, I hope.
So, I finished packing in record time and am basically ready to leave for Gally tomorrow. The gout seems to have calmed down and my knee seems somewhat functional. I may take a cane with me, but I think I'll make it.

Here's hoping it doesn't flare up again overnight.

Hope to see a couple of you there.

Ta.

Huh.

Someone sent me a dinosaur in the mail, but with no return address so I don't know who. Weird.

Ouch

I'm worried that my gouty knee may prevent me from flying to LAX for Gallifrey. That would really suck.
